Tigo leads on network speeds while Entel provides best overall quality

The Tigo network delivered the best network performance speeds in Bolivia during the last three months of 2017, according to over 18 million data records we gathered. It registered a combined 4.3 Mbps across both 3G and 4G. That said the rival Viva network recorded the same speed, but Tigo had the faster upload speeds.

However, when we looked a combination of speed, latency, jitter, all of which are important for overall network performance, Entel’s network came out on top especially in terms of upload speeds, latency and jitter, for instance, measurements revealed relatively low latency and packet loss which is good news for Entel subscribers.

About our testing

Tutela tests mobile networks by crowdsourcing anonymous sensor data from hundreds of millions of Android and iOS mobile users across the world. This enables us to collect billions of measurements every day and gain a real-world understanding of the mobile experience that mobile users are getting - not just in major towns & cities, but in all parts of the world.

Our testing methodology is designed to simulate typical user mobile behaviour, such as downloading a photograph or web page, rather than measuring the maximum performance, such as the peak download speed during a very large file transfer (which very few users will achieve) so that we can understand a typical user's experience.
