Belgium Mobile Experience Snapshot

 

In the latest Mobile Experience Snapshot for Belgium, each operator was on the leaderboard at least once: Orange and Proximus statistically tied for first place in Excellent Consistent Quality, while Orange narrowly won in Core Consistent Quality. BASE had the fastest download speeds, Proximus for uploads. Orange had most responsive network. 

Orange and Proximus tie for Excellent Consistent Quality

In Common Coverage Areas across Belgium, Orange and Proximus statistically tied for the highest Excellent Consistent Quality, meaning connections having a network experience suitable for use-cases like 1080p video streaming, real-time mobile gaming and HD video calling. BASE had an Excellent Consistent Quality of 79.9%, over 7% behind the two operators. 

In regards to Core Consistent Quality, Tutela’s metric for when a connection is good enough for web browsing, social media sharing and SD video streaming, all three operators easily reached the 90% threshold and all had very similar results, with Orange narrowly in first place with 95.0% followed by Proximus with 94.6% and Base with 94.2%.

BASE had fastest median download speed, Proximus for uploads

BASE had the fastest median download speeds with 33.2 Mbps, however Proximus was only 1 Mbps slower than the operator. Orange was in third place with a median download speed of 29.0 Mbps, 4.2 Mbps slower than first place BASE. 

The rankings switched in the upload speed test, with Proximus out in front with a median transfer speed of 15.5 Mbps, followed by Orange at 13.3 Mbps, and BASE in third place with 11.1 Mbps, 4.4 Mbps slower than first place Proximus.

Orange had best latency result

Orange had the most responsive network in Common Coverage Areas across Belgium with a latency result of 12.7 ms, 3.3 ms more responsive than second place Proximus and 5.7 ms more responsive than third place BASE.
