New Zealand Market Snapshot

In the latest Mobile Experience Report for New Zealand, 2degrees was found to have the highest Excellent Consistent Quality percentage in the country at 85.6% and had the best one-way latency at 24.5 ms. Vodafone had both the fastest median download speed and upload speed in the country. 

2degrees leads Excellent Consistent Quality

In Common Coverage Areas across New Zealand, 2degrees had the highest Excellent Consistent Quality percentage with 85.6% of tests good enough for applications like HD video calling, movie streaming, or mobile gaming. With only a difference of 0.7%, Spark was in second place for a Excellent Consistent Quality of 84.9%, followed by Vodafone at 81.8%.

In regards to Core Consistent Quality, all three operators in the country reached the 90% threshold and 2degrees had the highest Core Consistent Quality at 97.1%. The difference in performance was again small, with both Spark and Vodafone only behind 2degrees by 0.7% and 0.6%, respectively.

Vodafone takes the top spot for download and upload speed

In regards to speeds, Vodafone had the fastest median download speed in the country with 23.9 Mbps, and the fastest median upload speed at 9.2 Mbps. Spark was close behind Vodafone for download, with a median speed of 20.0 Mbps but had the slowest median upload in the country at 7.7 Mbps. 2degrees had the slowest median download speed at 19.5 Mbps, but by only 4.4 Mbps behind Vodafone. The operator also had the second fastest median upload speed at 8.1 Mbps.

 

2degrees had best latency result

For latency, 2degrees had the best one-way result at 24.5 ms, followed by Vodafone at 25.9 ms, and Spark in third for a median one-way latency of 29.4 ms.
