Germany Mobile Experience Snapshot

In the latest Mobile Experience Snapshot for Germany, Telekom excelled in all five metrics tested, including the highest Excellent and Core Consistent Quality and fastest download speeds. 

 

Telekom had highest Excellent Consistent Quality

In Common Coverage Areas across Germany, Telekom had the highest Excellent Consistent Quality with 82.9% of subscribers having a network experience suitable for use-cases like 1080p video streaming, real-time mobile gaming or HD video calling. With a difference in performance of 6.5%, Vodafone was in second place and O2 finished third place with an Excellent Consistent Quality of 72.2%. 

Telekom was also the only operator in Common Coverage Areas across Germany to reach the 90% threshold for Core Consistent Quality, meaning subscribers having a network experience suitable for use-cases like SD video streaming, social media sharing and web browsing, with 91.6%. However, the competition was tight between Telekom and Vodafone as only 4.2% separated the two, whilst O2 was in third by 8.1%

Telekom had fastest download and upload speeds

In the speed test, Telekom had the fastest median download speed with 28.7 Mbps, 7.5 Mbps faster than second place Vodafone and 8.8 Mbps faster than O2. 

For uploads, the difference in performance was much tighter: Telekom was in first place with a median transfer speed of 13.0 Mbps, followed by O2 in second place with 10.8 Mbps, and Vodafone in third with 10.5 Mbps. Only 2.5 Mbps separated Vodafone from first place Telekom.

 

Telekom latency performed best 

In the latency test, Telekom was in first place with the most responsive network in Common Coverage Areas across Germany with 13.7 ms, however O2 was only 0.3 ms behind Telekom. Despite its ability to keep up with Telekom in every other metric tested, Vodafone had the least responsive network at 16.3 ms.
