Entel dominates overall mobile network quality in Peru overall, but not across all regions

Based on over 50 million mobile network quality tests taken in August through to October, Entel performed the fastest and delivered the highest quality across Peru. The operator delivered download, upload, latency, jitter, and packet loss results significantly above the benchmarks in all these measurement categories. It registered 7,084 kbps for downloads, 3,357kbps for uploads, 73ms for latency, 5.98ms for jitter and 1.40% packet loss.

That said Movistar and Bitel took the lead in some regions for 3G and 4G results. For instance, when looking at 4G networks by region, Movistar delivered the best overall quality results in the Amazonas, Pasco, Huancavelica and Apurímac regions.

Similarly, on 3G networks alone, our tests revealed the Bitel delivered the overall best performance in seven regions including the sizable but sparsely populated Loreto region and the large Ucayali and Puno regions. The other four regions were Ancash, Ayacucho, Moquegua and Huancavelica.

About our testing

Tutela tests mobile networks by crowdsourcing anonymous sensor data from hundreds of millions of Android and iOS mobile users across the world. This enables us to collect billions of measurements every day and gain a real-world understanding of the mobile experience that mobile users are getting - not just in major towns & cities, but in all parts of the world.

Our testing methodology is designed to simulate typical user mobile behaviour, such as downloading a photograph or web page, rather than measuring the maximum performance, such as the peak download speed during a very large file transfer (which very few users will achieve) so that we can understand a typical user's experience.
